Ruf RGT-8 debuts in Geneva, V8 powered 911

The first Ruf RGT was based on the Porsche 996 and featured a 3.6-liter engine from the GT3 as the base with 385 hp. In 2004 Ruf introduced another RGT based on Porsche 997 with a 3.8-liter unit delivering 445 hp.Now in 2010 Ruf is introducing the next generation of RGT, the RGT-8. This prototype is powered by a new Ruf designed 4.5-liter V8 engine with a 180° crankshaft “Flatcrank”. The whole engine weighs less than 200 kg and produces 550 hp at 8500 rpm and has a maximum torque of 500 Nm at 5400 rpm.

A 6 speed gearbox with shortened gear shift movement transfers the power to the rear axle.

Other highlights are a custom interior, 19-inch Ruf wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cups, carbon ceramic brakes, integrated roll-cage, 2 racing type bucket seats, aluminum doors and front hood, carbon fibre engine cover and rear spoiler.

Ruf has not released performance specs yet, but as the engine is lighter than the stock 3.8-liter flat six unit we have no doubt that the numbers are impressive. The RUF RGT-8 production start is planned for 2011.
